Comment on Has 88Nine Really Only Played 9 Milwaukee Hip-Hop Artists In 2010? by Eli Cash

Good article. That's pretty interesting, especially seein the breakdown of number of plays per artist. Well, now I don't feel quite as shitty, because I know 88NINE has had my music as well for well over a year and (as far as I know) have never played it. I know for a fact multiple people have requested songs too, because they've then contacted me to say they tried but the station didn't play it. I figured it was just me, but this apparently is a larger problem. I don't understand why they wouldn't play more hip-hop, seeing as its a driving force in the area for music (perhaps more so than any other style of music in the area) and these days has a larger potential for listeners than many other styles as well. Granted, I know 88NINE tries to show 'diversity' and since they stress that in their tagline they have to maintain a diverse group of artists. But at the same time, they're running music as much if not more than any other station and have no excuse for not expanding their playlist more (and towards the realm of hip-hop in particular).

Double Standard Alert.
I agree that the N word- "ninja" or otherwise, should not be used.
But I'm so sick and tired of hearing it period. Lil Wayne shouldn't say it either. I'm white. And he sounds just plain stupid. Any African-American artist who doesn't which to hear white people dropping "ninja" or the real deal shouldn't use either in their music! So, if you're black, you have the authority to sing along with every word of the song, but if you're white, you have to just be silent at parts? At that point, using the "ninja" substitute sounds kind.
I'm sick of the proliferation of such a hateful word in modern culture. By everyone! Drop the double standard!
