In what has become an annual event, drummer/producer/engineer/occasional vocalist/DJ/blogger/Twitterer/sometime late night TV talk show sketch actor/music historian/etc., Questlove of the legendary Roots crew out of Philly is going to step up to the 1′s and 2′s at Moct on July 1st after The Roots slay the Summerfest crowd, courtesy of homegrown record label, Uni.Fi Records.
The event information can be found on the poster.
I still remember a few summers ago when Brother ?uestion rocked Stonefly (thanks to Geraud and Element). The entire Roots crew showed up (except Kamal…maybe?) and I was assisting Jank One with photography for the event. By the end of the night we had to figure out how to get The Roots back to their hotel and Captain Kirk kept yelling out “Yeah! Let’s go to Ma Fischer’s!!!” and in the confusion I was told that I didn’t have a spot in a car…of which two of the vehicles were PT Cruisers…but should wait outside of Stonefly until somebody could come back to get me. I was living over on Oakland and Bellevue at the time and considered hoofing it, but in the end everybody fit and I ended up driving Jank around for a while until he sobered up enough to drive home safely because he rediscovered his love for Brandy (the booze) that night.
I can tell you that the crowd had a ton of fun that night.
Good times.
