Today, the good folks over at Umbrella Music Group dropped their newest webtape, this time from Tay Butler.

Tay is a guy who has been around for a while but was absent from the scene for a hot minute to fulfill his overseas requirements with our United States Armed Forces.

Now that he’s back he has been hard at work preparing not only a new webtape but an album that is to be released at a later date.

I like Tay, as a rapper and a person, so it’s nice to hear him back on the microphone.

As far as the release goes, it’s 10 songs of Tay flowing in and out of the beats provided by Dylan Thoms, Adlib, Haz Solo, and then some industry beats (it is a web(mix)tape), and there are some features by the UMG crew of course.  Also featured on the project is Pizzle, CT, and Justice Born.  It was recorded and mixed by Adlib.

Go ahead and download Tay Butler Presents UMG Summer League RIGHT HERE!

Here’s my favorite joint off the project, “Home” (produced by Adlib)…I personally am the type of person who appreciates depth to the music I listen to and this track definitely shows depth. I also really like the beat Lib put together for this track. -

AND for your added satisfaction, I thought I would include this hilarious picture that was created by Haz Solo.

Recently a couple of videos hit the world-wide web that I thought I’d put up while enjoying my vacation in the lovely (highly overrated) Wisconsin Dells.

Haz Solo is a fool..and really working on becoming a master of his domain (no Seinfeld) when it comes to music.  Watch him do odd stuff on his new voyeuristic video “Villa de la Villain”

Last, but certainly not least, we have UMG’s battle rapper Yo-Dot, and his massacre of a man named Oxymoron…whom he faced in the first Milwaukee based Grind Time Now event (shouts to Dana Coppa for getting it together).  Mr. Yola tosses a couple vicious and impressive lines at his opponent.  Keep your ears and eyes open for news about Yo-Dot’s album…I believe the title is The Ultrasound…coming sometime in the near future (winter or spring I’m guessing).

Well, that’s it for now.  It’s time to go play some mini-golf.  I will battle ANYBODY in mini-golf. *Shots fired*

(**Note:  The song at the beginning by KHB can be heard in the post previous to this one…go and peep it.)

Dana Coppafeel has been plotting on getting Grind Time Now to Milwaukee for months now and his hard work has paid off.  On June 26th, at Flow Clothing, the battle is scheduled to go on from 2pm-7pm.  It is an all ages event and there is a $10 door fee.

For those not familiar with what Grind Time Now is, it’s a Hip-Hop battle league that prefers their participants rap sans beat during the battles and pre-written rhymes are allowed and accepted.  It isn’t a freestyle battle league however freestyling does occur.  Examples of the battles can be seen HERE.  The battles are typically quite humorous, however they are generally quite explicit.

Milwaukee resident and Umbrella Music Group artist Yo-Dot will be battling at the event.  Yo-Dot is the winner of the Mic Club Tournament, a Milwaukee event held a couple of years ago now.

The headline battle of the afternoon is Rockford, IL and Covert Empire emcee Fresco versus Samiam.  Samiam was a MTV $1 Million Battle finalist and is in the 106 and Park hall of fame.

For those who aren’t members of Grind Time, but would still like a chance to battle, there is a limited number of spots available and those inquiries should be emailed to sonnybamboo@gmail.com.
