Who are you?
We are the Umbrella Music Group, an upcoming music label with aspirations on becoming the next Sony or Universal.
What is your current artist roster?
Has your label released anything so far this year?
We’ve released Misen’s Lync’s “Both Sides of the Mirror” and Yo-Dot’s “Dot Balistreri” webtapes which are both avail via http://umbrellasup.com for download.
What releases do you have planned for the remainder of this year?
Prophetic: Untitled Webtape and Album
Kash/Yo-Dot: Untitled webtape
Kash: Black Bauer 2.0
Tay Butler: Purple Snow / Joy and Pain
We’ve been also throwing the idea around to do a Group effort Project which would include all of us. Thats still in the air though.
What’s your label’s history?
If you ask anyone under the umbrella the goal has always been to come out with good, quality music. We set the bar higher with every project that is released. We was to bring that consistent sound that breeds longevity as far as fan base and being involved in music. We’ve released albums from Tay Butler, Adlib, to Prophetic. We’ve releases webtapes from Prophetic, Tay Butler, Misen Lync, Mecch Maloh, Kash, Yo-dot…etc…
What makes your label unique?
I think the fact that a bunch of artists can co-exist and equally promote each other without the artist’s attitude makes us different than alot of other groups. I think the fact that we are building from the ground up and catching attention with what we call “webtapes” (free music you can only get from our website) makes us unique. From the artists to our mindset I think we are an out of the box thinking type label who are looking for new innovative ways to get music to the masses.
Where do you see your label in five years?
I see us working with a parent label to help us get off the ground. I see us picking up different genres of music outside of hip hop and promoting and producing even things outside of music such as film, tv etc….
If somebody wants to join your label as an artist, how can they do so?
At this point, we dont recruit, but we do not shy away from collaborative efforts and if a relationship is built from there we can’t say that another artist or group wouldnt be brought on.
What do you think about Milwaukee Hip-Hop outside of those on your label?
Milwaukee is a city full of potential, but it hasn’t found that “blueprint” for success yet. We have artists around the city doing alot more than what we’ve seen in years and its beautiful. We still need to work on our professionalism as a whole, but we are getting there.
Anything else you’d like to say or do you have any shout-outs?
