Building off the success of her well received album The Transition, Milwaukee native and NYC based emcee Signif is releasing The Transition Remixes, an EP of choice cuts reinterpreted by Milwaukee native and LA based producer and emcee Haz Solo.
The reinterpreted tracks are fantastic in my opinion. Haz Solo definitely did a bang up job…especially on the track where he made Signif sound like a guy. I don’t know about you but it came off as very risky and paid off in the end. It also got me thinking about how I listen to female rappers and if I had any bias against them because of their tone. Whether or not this was the point of doing that, I don’t know. However, it led me to an introspective place and that’s always a good thing in my mind.
The free project is also being accompanied by a new music video for the track “Unleashed” which is edited by Darren Cole; director of videos for Prophetic, Dana Coppafeel, Melissa Czarnik, and editor of videos for Miami’s Rick Ross and Milwaukee’s KingHellBastard.
Darren is a very talented guy and to put it plainly, the video is simple but effective. I like his style of editing, and the images match Signif’s lyrics and the Haz’s vibe. That’s a win all the way around to me.
