A few weekends ago, a Milwaukee group known as TRUE Skool, held it’s 5th annual weekend of events that included a B-Boy/Girl competition, a day of concerts by local Hip-Hop artists, as well as a graffiti style mural painting by students within the organization.
The non-profit organization also held a graffiti clean up effort on the day of the block party, in an effort to continue to push forward their agenda of community building, something that is 100% necessary.
Not too long after the event was done, Milwaukee Alderman Bob Donovan came across the mural and set his sights on demonizing TRUE Skool and their mission due to the fact that he didn’t consider what the mural represented to be art and he began to make wild accusations about TRUE Skool and it’s organizers.
The mural itself was OK’ed by the owner of the building with the stipulation that it be removed a few days later. TRUE Skool complied with this.

Soon after the uproar he caused, Ald. Donovan issued his own statement to clear up the statements he made to the media at the scene of the mural. To read his statement, CLICK HERE.
The officials at TRUE Skool were not going to just sit back and take the tongue lashing and paper thrashing Donovan was giving them so today they have issued their statement in rebuttal to the whole situation. It is a bit lengthy, but spells out very clearly why Donovan is completely wrong in his accusations and is a must read for all interested in the situation at hand.
